I have a 2007 Jeep Wrangler, 4 Door, and I have to say that I love it! While I say this, I also have to say that it has been a bumpy ride. No pun intended. I have had my fair share of issues, and I am certain there are more to come. Some of this is due to my over excitement about this car when it came on the market. I believe because I bought it right away some of the kinks had not been worked out. With that said, let me cover what went wrong. Dual Tops I purchased my Jeep with the dual tops. The hard top has removable panels so it is not only great for winter months, but in the spring it is great on the occasional hot day. While this all sounds perfect, my first problem came with the hard top. Due to the removable panels, I had leakage inside the car whenever it rained. Water seeped down through the seams of the top and into the interior. What was worse, most of my leaking happened right over my stereo. Apparently this became a common enough problem that dealers started installing extra weather stripping to prevent the leaking. In my case, luckily it worked, as I have heard from some the stripping never did. The leaking became such an issue in the beginning that Jeep started only offering soft tops for a period of time. Recalls In the two and a half years I have owned the car, I have had two recalls. The first was something I never had an issue with, but the second was a power issue. Shortly before the recall came in the mail, I noticed that while driving I would lose all power from time to time. The entire dashboard would go blank and then suddenly come back on. According to the recall, this was extremely dangerous for braking. I can happily say, after the fix, it’s never happened again. Replacement Parts Less than a year after purchasing the Jeep, my area suffered a terrible hail storm and my car was outside to take on the damage. The positive part is that Wranglers do not have typical trunks, so the damage was restricted to the hood area. The storm took place in early June, and the Jeep was not repaired until September. That time in between was spent trying to locate and get a brand new hood. I was told by my dealer that Jeep released only a limited amount of hoods, and I would have to wait. I guess I was lucky it only took three months. Stereo The stereo may be better talked about under the dual tops section, but I am just not positive the stereo issues are directly related to the leaking top.
